Nippon Life Insurance, also known as Nissay, is a top life insurer in Japan. The company, which has some 10 million policyholders, uses a door-to-door sales corps and other representatives to peddle its traditional insurance products, including individual and group life and annuity policies, to Japanese consumers. In addition to its life insurance products, the company administers pension plans and medical coverage plans and provides asset management services. Through its affiliates and subsidiaries, the company also sells auto and other property/casualty insurance in Japan, and it has some international life insurance operations, as well as select real estate and financial service assets.
